The current era is the Fourth Empire, abbreviated as 4e. Though the era isn’t ruled by an empire as the previous ones had. The Bleak War lead to the creation of the Republic of Terrasia. Ten city-states of various size spread across the land. As follows:
Remanas, the second largest city-state, home of Remander, and the seat of the government;
The Shattered Isles consisting of the northwest peninsula and all the islands that surround the northern and western edges of the continent;
Vermer, sunk into the most mountainous part of the continent, many Dwarves chose to make their home here.
Ellendor, one of the smallest city-states, sharing a border with Remanas, almost being swallowed by the larger state.
Sakot, the breadbasket of the country, almost no mountains in this state.
Milesworth, a long, thin city-state that spans through the center of the country, a high trafficked state that handles much of the trade and money for the country.
Per, small and known mostly for their high end crafts and schools for the arcane.
Fareth, jutting out of the mountains with The Far Place Fareth is a state of construction and preparation, holds the Old Capital
Citadel, named for the Grand Citadel of the Six that once resided there during the time of the Third Empire, many make pilgrimages to this small state.
Sarrine, the farthest north city-state nestled in the snow covered mountains, large, but the least populated.
There is also what is unofficially considered the “Eleventh City-State”, the lost region of Orran Moth. A large port city and the surrounding area that was washed under the waves of the High Sea during the Bleak War. Now the region is considered haunted and it’s a common curse to declare “Remember Orran Moth!” or "Remember the
Each state is left to rule their region as they see fit, most are presided over by a council. Together a Representative is sent from each city-state and they collectively decide national affairs. Some of the states have been known to be corrupt but even they are protected by the Representative council and little changes in the hierarchy of the government. Even though the country is a united front in concept, in practice it is quite divided. With the races at odds with each other, the old ways of Magic threatened by the rise of technology and steam powered machinery and the rebels who wish to overthrow the, what they consider corrupt, government and establish a new order. Many peoples are fighting every day in Terrasia, with tensions running at all time highs.
